The government forces, backed by the popular resistance fighters, began on Tuesday a large-scale attack on the Houthi and Saleh forces sites in Usaylan district, west of Shabwa governorate, southwest of Yemen. 38 militants of both sides were killed in the clashes.

It is noteworthy that Usaylan district is under the Houthi control since the month of April 2015.

The attack was launched by the 21 Mika Brigade, led by Maj. Gen. Jahdal Hanash al Awlaqi, and the forces of the 19 Infantry Brigade, led by Brigadier Alawi Hasyan al Harthy, according to a military source.

The source added that the confrontations, which are still flaring up, have resulted in the death of 27 Houthi and allied militants and 11 government troops, as well as the capture of 14 Houthi militants.
