Government forces regain control of sites in Nehm, kill 16 rebels

The government forces regained Saturday a number of strategic mountains in the Nihm district, northeastern Sana'a, after fierce battles against forces loyal to the Houthi rebels and ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

 

A military source told Almasdaronine that the government forces have taken control of al Safeh al Abyadh mountain overlooking Dhabwah area and the road that pro-Houthi/Saleh forces use for their reinforcement and supplies.

 

 

The fighting continues to take place there, and the government forces will be able to completely cut the supply road of the militia,'' the military source added

 

Other strategic sites nearby were also regained by the pro-government forces, according to the source.

 

For his part, the spokesperson of the poplar resistance in Sana'a, Abdullah al Shandaqi, wrote on his Facebook page that 16 pro-Houthi militants were killed and several others wounded in the fighting, while seven others were held captives.

 

Earlier this month, the pro-government forces have staged a major offensive in the starboard of Nihm front and regained many strategic sites and mountains, in addition to securing the main road for their reinforcement and supplies coming from Marib governorate, eastern the capital, Sana'a.
