The Yemeni government forces stated Tuesday that the Apache helicopter of the Saudi forces, which crashed in Mareb province eastern the capital Sana’a, was accidentally shot down the by the air defense systems of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition.
September Net website, of the Yemeni government forces, quoted a military source as saying that 12 Saudi soldiers with the helicopter crew were killed in the incident.
The source said the Saudi soldiers were returning from their leave.
"The helicopter was shot down five kilometers away from its landing area, and a false reading of the air defense system led to bombing it before landing”.
The source added that the helicopter fell far from the locations of the Houthis-Saleh militants.
It is noteworthy that the Houthis announced earlier that they had shot down the warplane.
