UNICEF: Cholera deaths among Yemenis rise to 206, more than 17,000 persons infected

The number of deaths among Yemenis due to the cholera epidemic has risen to 206, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) office said Wednesday.

There is a frightening rise in the number of cases of acute watery diarrhea, and has reached 17219 cases Wednesday morning, of which 257 are confirmed laboratory cases of cholera," UNICEF said in a post on Facebook.

Despite the figures on the number of deaths and infected cases of cholera provided by international organizations, which reveal an alarming increase, the real figures may be even higher. Dozens of patients and deaths, especially in remote villages and towns, have not been included in the death and infected lists.
