The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate said that unidentified gunmen kidnapped the journalist Abdel Rahim Mohsen in Raheda area southern Taiz city, southwestern Yemen.

In a statement, the Syndicate said that it received before Tuesday afternoon a notice from the journalist family, saying that Mohsen was kidnapped by gunmen in civilian clothes at a checkpoint in Al-Rahda district.

The gunmen took him with his car to an unknown location, while others searched his house in his village in al Selow district, southern Taiz.

The family said that they also demanded local authorities to release him.

"The journalists Syndicate condemned this crime," the statement said. "The authorities that impose their authority on the region are responsible for the speedy release of Mohsin, his car, and his belongings, also the responsible for his safety and security."
