A security source said that 140 detainees in the training camp in Bir Ahmed in the interim capital of Aden have been in a hunger strike for four days in a row demanding of unconditionally release or they prefer dying.
The detainees started the strike to express their refusal of being held for prolonged periods, some up to two years, without charge or legal action.
Most detainees complain of ill-treatment, torture, denial of visits, lack of medical services and not even informing their families of their destiny, while dozens of them had been forcibly disappeared
Thereafter, Dozens of detainees' families protested Tuesday in front of the judicial complex in the southern Yemeni Aden city, in solidarity with their relatives, who had been detained for more than 20 months without any charges.
A statement issued by the protest held the Saudi-led Arab Coalition forces, the UAE and the Yemeni government full responsibility for the health and safety of the detainees, especially after their health conditions deteriorated because of the strike.
The statement added that the prison administration is carrying out serious violations against detainees to force them to end the strike.
At the same time, Almasdaronline was informed that some of the detainees are having a deterioration in their health due to the hunger strike and the prison administration did not provide any kind of treatment, yet threatened them if they will not stop the hanger strike or they will be taken to a worst secret prison where no one could know about them at all.
