United Nations: Over 50,000 families displaced by war

More than 50,000 Yemeni families have been displaced by the war from the western city of Hodeidah, according to a statement by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on the humanitarian situation on Thursday.

"Until Aug. 5, 50, 552 families were displaced from the city of Hodeidah, and 47 thousand and 400 families (93 percent of the cases) received assistance," it said.

It noted that most of the displaced people were being hosted inside the province, while others had moved to neighboring provinces and needed humanitarian assistance.

According to the statement, nine schools in Sana'a City are currently hosting displaced families, while more than 4, 300 displaced families have arrived in Ta'izz and Ibb governorates.
