Taiz.. one person dies of cholera and 2864 infected since beginning of 2019


One person died after a week of his infection with cholera in Taiz, southwest Yemen, on Thursday.

Abdelkarim Fakhreddine al-ghori died on Thursday, a week after he was diagnosed with cholera, a medical source told Al-masdar online.

The government and private hospitals have also registered dozens of cholera cases in Taiz city and in the western and southern provinces of the province.

For his part, the director of the epidemiological surveillance department at the Bureau of Health and Population said that the number of cases of acute watery diarrhea (cholera) amounted to (2864) cases, including 128 confirmed cases of “culturing” examination.

Epidemiological surveillance director Yassin Abdel Malek said the number of cases is very large, he feared the wave of diarrhea coming, and did not rule out to be stronger than previous waves, calling for the importance of rapid containment and control of the epidemic.

In recent weeks, the health and Population Bureau has launched a field campaign of oral vaccination for children and students in several government and private schools in Taiz city.
