Griffith meets Houthis in Muscat to discuss participation in upcoming consultations

UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths said he met with senior officials of the Omani government, including His Excellency Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi in the Omani capital of Muscat.

On his Twitter page, he said he had met with representatives of the Al-Houthi group and discussed ways to participate in the upcoming consultations and preparations for his visit to Sana'a to meet the Houthis.

On the one hand, Saba, in its Houthi version, said that the head of the delegation and Al-Houthi spokesman Mohamed Abdel Salam met with Griffith, his deputy Mueen Shuraim, and his aides in Muscat to discuss "the political situation, the framework for a comprehensive solution and the humanitarian and economic crisis."

The meeting discussed on a number of topics and issues including the opening of the Sanaa International Airport as well as the prisoners, economic issues and the arrangements needed to hold a meeting as soon as possible to resume dialogue and discuss the general framework of the settlement.
