Aden port warns against illegal charging of ships

The state-operated Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation (Aden), which is operating the port of Aden, the interim capital (south of the country), has warned port service providers against imposing financial charges on ships without legal justification.

In a directive to the shipping companies, owners and operators of ships in the port of Aden to communicate with the port administration, in case of suspicion of fees or royalties being levied by their shipping agents or service providers, they were made to verify this.

Merchants have already complained of a large number of financial charges being paid at the port.
