Houthis put conditions on UN envoy’s visit to Sana’a

The UN Envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, has postponed a visit to the capital Sana’a scheduled on last Wednesday after the Hotuhi group and Saleh’s party have put more conditions to his visit.

Ould Cheikh was supposed to have arrived in Sana’a last Wednesday and hand over the UN amended roadmap to the rebel forces, as well as to discuss the ceasefire arrangements, according to the Emiratis newspapers

However, the coup forces have conditioned that the UN envoy has to recognize the government they have formed and meet their Minister of Foreign Affairs, instead of meeting the representatives of the Houthi group and Saleh’s party, which was rejected as the UN recognizes only the pro-Hadi government.

The Houthis also conditioned the re-activation of the air navigation in Sana’a International Airport before discussing any settlement proposals and before the De-escalation and Cooperation Committee starts its work.
