Taiz: 5 deaths in clashes between pro-government forces and Houthis, military campaign to keep peace

3 militants of the forces loyal to the Houthi group and former president Saleh in addition to 2 pro-government security soldiers were killed on Tuesday evening in clashes between the two sides in Maqbanah district western Taiz city, southwestern Yemen, according to a press release.

The press release, issued by the pro-government Taiz Military Region, stated that the pro-government forces have exchanged heavy shelling with the Houthi-Saleh militias stationing in al Ashmalah area.

It is noteworthy that sporadic clashes have been erupting in Maqbanah since weeks, with the Houthis militiamen and the forces loyal to former president Saleh trying to advance in the area.

On the other hand, the pro-government forces in Taiz have widely deployed to keep peace in the city’s streets and neighborhoods, following clashes between outlaw militants and the pro-government forces.

The pro-government statement stressed that the military campaign will deter any outlaw armed manifestations that stir chaos and anarchy in the city, especially after the recent security disturbances the city witnessed.

It is worth to mention that recent clashes between outlaw armed gangs and pro-government forces had resulted in the death of two civilians and the injury of others within the past two days.
