A source in al Bayda governorate, central Yemen, said that a leader in al-Qaeda was killed at dawn on Monday by an airstrike carried out by a US drone on presumed sites of the organization.

 

The source told Almasdaronline that Yasser Ali Abdullah, nicknamed as Abu al Muhajir al Ebbi, former detainee at Guantánamo and was released in late 2009, was killed in the airstrike that targeted him in Qaifah area.

 

Al Ebbi, originally from Hazm al Udain of Ibb governorate in central Yemen, is a prominent leader of al Qaeda, and was in charge of the education during their control of Mukalla city of Hadhramout governorate, southeastern Yemen,

 

Abu al Muhajir al Ebbi is the brother of Yasser Salah Ali, who died in Guantánamo and his body was transferred to Yemen in 2006.
