Violent battles, Houthis shell residential neighborhoods in Taiz

The fighting between the pro-government and poplar resistance forces and the Houthis-Saleh forces escalated on Friday night in northern and northwestern Taiz city, southwestern Yemen.

The pro-government forces had thwarted Houthis’ attacks on the outskirts of al Zonog valley and al Defaa site, after violent confrontations between the two parties, resulted in heavy human and material losses among the coup militiamen. A military source said to Almasdaronline.

''The pro-government forces artillery also shelled the Houthis’ sites in al-Wa'ash mountain and the outskirts of al Zonog valley, and the Houthis responded with similar shelling.''

However, a number of Houthi-fired Katyusha rockets and artillery shells had fallen on the neighborhoods of al Duhhi, al-Qurashi, and al Awadi, on the vicinity of the Air Defense camp, Jarra mount, and on Wadi al-Qadi region. Local residents said.

Eyewitnesses stated that a Howitzer shell fired by the Houthis had also hit and almost destroyed a trade store in al-Nasiriyah neighborhood.
