Yemen Scholars Association rejects the Southern Transitional Council – statement

The Yemen Scholars Association had announced in a statement its refusal to recognize the so-called Southern Transitional Council announced by the former governor of Aden Eidrous al-Zubaidi four days ago.

We affirm that the Southern Transitional Council has no legitimacy, and we call upon all the people of Yemen to deepen the ties of brotherhood and unity, and to reject the calls for division,” the statement said.

The statement stressed the Association’s support to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the Yemeni government.

The Association also thanked the Saudi-led Coalition countries, the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council for their stand with the Yemeni people, until Yemen is liberated from the coup.

On Thursday, the dismissed governor of Aden Eidrous al Zubaidi announced the formation of a southern transitional council, to run the south, which consisted of 26 persons including 4 governors, a measure rejected by the Yemeni government, as well as the Gulf Cooperation Council.
