Taiz largest government hospital closes due to lack of potentials – statement

The largest government hospital in Taiz declared it has stopped providing health services due to the lack of the minimal operational potentials, and held Taiz governor and the health minister responsible for that.

The Board of Directors of Al-Thawra Hospital in Taiz said in a statement that “the hospital has stopped providing its medical services in all sections except in the MSF-supported ambulance department, due to the lack of the minimal operational potentials, despite all the medical facilities the hospital has and the vital health services it provides.”

The hospital Board of Directors also held Taiz Governor Ali al-Maamari and Health Minister Nasser Baoum fully responsible for the hospital’s going out of service.

The hospital and its administration absolve themselves from the consequences resulting from the hospital going out of service.” Added the statement.

The hospital Board of Directors also apologized for declaring closing the hospital, and called on all human rights organizations and opinion leaders to seriously take up the hospital issue as a matter of humanitarian impact.
