IFJ calls for the remaining abducted journalists release

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) called on the Houthis - Saleh forces to immediately release all abducted journalists in Yemen, as it welcomed the release of three last week, the journalist Yahya al-Jubeihi after a year of abduction, and the two journalists Abed al-Muhadhri and Kamel al-Khawthani, who were loyal to them.

In a statement, The IFJ welcomed the release of all three journalists and calls for the immediate release of all detained journalists in Yemen.

The International Union Secretary-General Anthony Blange said "We applaud the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate and all the Yemeni journalists who stand together against the repeated attacks on their colleagues and their aim to intimidate them,"

"The IFJ and the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate demand that the warring parties stop their attacks on journalists in Yemen and allow them to do their work freely and safely," he said.

According to the statement, the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate registered in the first quarter of 2017 nearly 50 media violations, including 8 abductions, 4 arrests, two arrests and a threat.

"The Houthis have committed 62% of these violations with 29 cases, and 17% by the government security services with 8 cases."
