Saudi and American ambassadors visit Alrayyan base and port in al-Mukalla


The Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed al-Jaber and the United States Matthew Toller, arrived in the city of Mukalla, on Thursday.

The two ambassadors arrived aboard a Saudi plane to the airport of al-Rayyan, a large part of which has become a joint United Arab Emirates and remains closed to civil aviation since the end of the control of al-Qaeda gunmen in the city mid-2016, according to Al-Msadar online.

The visit is the second by the US ambassador to Mukalla, where he visited the military base at al-Rayyan Airport, which have US forces alongside the UAE forces, while the Saudi ambassador's visit is to provide the Saudi Arabian oil grant for Hadramawt electricity, the source said.

The ambassadors began their programme of visits with a reception at Al-Rayyan Airport (the military base) and was attended  by a limited number of media professionals, in the presence of  Major General Faraj al-Bahsani, governor and the military region coommander, and Salem al-Khanbashi, Deputy prime minister, the  schedule of the visit will include a visit to  port Al-Mukalla and meetings with officials and military leaders in the province.

The visit comes only hours after the return of the governor of Hadramawt, commander of the second military region, Major General Faraj Salem Al-Bahsani, to al-Mukalla from Abu Dhabi after a one-day unannounced visit.
