Two soldiers shot as they approached an EID planted by unknowns in Shibam Hadramawt

Two soldiers were shot and wounded Sunday when they approached an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in the middle of the street in the eastern Yemeni city of Shibam Hadramawt.

Military engineering teams were able to detonate the package remotely, a military source told the Al-Masdar online, and said that the operation was continuing to prosecute the terrorist elements that had placed the package where a black flag believed to be al-Qaeda was shown.

The killings and assassinations in the city of Shibam have dramatically increased during the past period, with security personnel and civilians in the near-total absence of the city's security apparatus after the bombing of its headquarters.

In the past days, the army and security forces have arrested a number of dangerous terrorist elements in the Qatan city, according to the first area and the spokesperson of the National Army.
