Haijat Abed Road, the only port of Taiz, is closed for rehabilitation and repair

The local authority in Al-Maqaterah directorate in Lahej has announced the closure of the Haijat Abed road linking the southwestern provinces of Taiz and Aden, the interim capital, to carry out maintenance work.

The local council in Al-Maqaterah Directorate, called on all citizens and drivers of vehicles and trucks to divert their route from Naqeel Haijat Abed, to the road of Al-Raboo’a Market.

He said that this is to rehabilitate the Hahija al-Abed road and repair it after being damaged as a result of torrential rains and heavy pressure from cars and trucks on the road.

Hahija al-Abed Road, the only opened road linking the governorates of Taiz, Lahj and Aden, due to the Houthi siege of the city of Taiz from its main outlets since August 2015, but road traffic was in dire need of repair.

Al-Masdar online has published a report on the suffering faced by motorists as a result of the deteriorating condition of the road, which during the past years has suffered neglect and increased pressure on it being the only road linking Taiz to the interim capital of Aden.
