Al-Mahrah ... Re-opening of border cargo port after closure due to clashes between the army and tribes against the Saudi presence


Authorities in Al-Mahra province re-opened Shehn port at the border with Oman after a day of closure as a result of clashes between military forces and tribal militants against the Saudi presence in the province.

The clashes erupted Thursday evening after tribal gunmen fired at Saudi vehicle between Shehen and Hat  directorates before interfering in local mediation to defuse the clashes, according to an official security source told Al-Masdar online.

The source said that the mediation succeeded in extracting  the locomotives with military protection to Sarorah in  Saudi Arabia on the border with Hadramawt, this morning, while the army secured the entire area.

He said two wounded were from the army, while was not known the causalities among  the other side.

Tribal components in al-Mahra province oppose the presence of Saudi forces in the province led by former official  Ali Salem al-Harizi, who has previously threatened to use force to prevent Saudi Arabia from staying in Al-Mahrah.
