A similar decision was not implemented. Court decides to release 5 other detainees in Mukalla

The Criminal Court of Appeal, specializing in state security cases in Al-Mukalla city, issued a verdict on Tuesday to support the trial court's decision to release five other detainees as a third batch of those found innocent of al-Qaeda's charges.

So far, the five detainees who were handed over by the prosecution the court's decision to release them to the central prison administration have not been released a week ago.

Dozens of detainees arrested by Hadrami Elite forces, supported by Emirati forces, were imprisoned in al-Mukalla central prison in 2016, without charge or presentation to the judiciary.

The court resumed the trial of five other detainees whose release was ordered by the court of first instance and the judge decided to pronounce the verdict on the following Monday

The detainees had carried out a hunger strike to demand the execution of the prosecution's decisions, of the release of those who had been acquitted and the judiciary.

The executive authorities in Al-Mukalla  are refusing judicial decisions to release a number of detainees since August last year, with residents accusing the UAE leader of continuing to imprison them against judicial decisions.
