Civilians wounded in clashes between security forces inside Qat market in northern Aden

Local residents and eyewitnesses told "Al-Masdar online" that two armed groups, following two security commanders, exchanged fire on Saturday afternoon, amid the Qat market north of the southern city of Aden, resulting in wounded civilians who were present in the market.

According to the sources, a disagreement between the escorts of security leaders on the purchase of Qat plant later developed into an exchange of fire after one of the parties insisted on the purchase of Qat first.

Witnesses told Al-Masdar online that three of the Qat market visitors in the Mansoura district and the passing by were slightly injured.

The interim capital of Aden (south of the country) is witnessing similar clashes between security groups following different leaders, but it was the first time since it declared a liberated city in July 2015, where clashes basis upon purchasing Qat plant.

The multiple loyalties of the forces in Aden and the absence of a unified security services operating room led to a lack of effective control over the security forces, causing a deepening of security imbalances and clashes between armed factions.
