Clashes in Taiz following the killing of an officer of the government forces by gunmen close to Abu Al-Abbas


Clashes erupted in the southern parts of Taiz city on Monday between government forces and close associates of the "Abu Abbas" brigades in a dangerous development that threatens to derail the new governor, Nabil Shaman, who arrived in the city on Sunday to carry out his duties, military and local sources said.

A national army official told Al-Masdar online that the clashes erupted against the backdrop of the assassination of an officer in the 22nd Brigade by a group affiliated to "Abu Abbas" brigades, backed by the UAE.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdallah Moqbil , an officer of the Reserve battalion of the 22nd Brigade, was assassinated in the afternoon by Yusuf al-Hayani Group, a leader of the Abu Abbas Brigades.

The leadership of the 22nd Brigade in Taiz said, Lieutenant Colonel Abdallah Moqbil, was a leader of the 22-member brigade, and explained that he was martyred with Mohamed Mounir, noon on Monday, by a treacherous assassination at Sinan  tour in downtown.

The statement which obtained by “Al-Masdar online”  stressed the need to speed up to face the criminal groups and warned that  the situation will be out of control and the consequences of slipping into chaos.
