Government promises to pay the salaries of doctors and health workers in all governorates of the country

Prime Minister Maeen Abdul Malik on Monday promised to pay the salaries of doctors and health workers for January and February in all provinces of the country, according to the state-owned news agency Saba.

This came during a meeting in the interim Yemeni capital of Aden, with  the regional director of the World Health Organization in the eastern Mediterranean region Ahmed Al-Mandhari.

The meeting discussed several issues related to the health sector and the mechanisms used to develop it, and to identify the support provided by the organization to Yemen and ways to strengthen it in various aspects.

The Prime minister accused al-Houthi of being indifferent to the worsening humanitarian crisis and the spread of diseases suffered by many citizens in the areas controlled by the Houthis.

Abdul Malik said his government aims as a first step to expand the salaries of many service sectors in all Yemen's governorates, including those under the control of the Houthis.

For his part, the WHO regional director in the Eastern Mediterranean region confirmed that the organization is working continuously to serve the health file in Yemen and has many different programs that it intends to implement such as vaccination programs and infectious disease control.

He stressed that the organization is working in cooperation with the Government to strengthen the health system in Yemen in the long term in terms of medical capabilities and professional competencies.
