Presidential Committee to calm the situation in Al-Mahrah meets Sheikh “Ben Aafrar " and the Picket Committee welcomes its efforts


The presidential committee in charge of situational access in Al-Mahra Governorate met Monday evening with Sheikh Abdullah Issa bin Aafrar, the president of what is known as the "General Council of the Sons of al-Mahra and Socotra ".

In the meeting, Sheikh bin Aafrar expressed his full readiness to coordinate meetings of the Presidential Committee with political parties, personalities and tribal merits in the province, to hear them, to see their opinions and suggestions, and to present proposals to bring the views closer, according to Al-Mahrah Media Center.

The Committee, headed by Lieutenant General Abdullah al-Nakh’ee, was formed by the Chief of staff and a number of military and security officials in an effort to defuse the escalationduring the past period.

The meeting comes a day after the Presidential committee arrived in the  province and its extended meeting with local authority officials after the escalation of tension against the Saudi presence in the province.

In a related context, the organizing committee for the peaceful Picket of the sons of al-Mahra  today, headed by former Al-Mahrah  agent Sheikh Ali al-Harizi, confirmed its continued escalation in  peaceful means.

The Committee reiterated its commitment to the legitimacy of President Hadi and its full support for the work of the Presidential Committee, welcoming the holding of a meeting with it to discuss the conditions of the province.

Tension escalated in al-Mahra province after clashes between security forces and tribal militants against the Saudi presence intercepted a convoy belonging to the coalition with the insistence of the protesters on the leave of the Saudi forces from the province.
