10 people died, 4 thousands infected with  cholera epidemic in Taiz


Ten people have died of the cholera epidemic, and the number of acute watery diarrhea cases has reached 3,000 and 781 since the beginning of the year, according to health authorities in the southeastern province Taiz on Tuesday.

The epidemiological monitoring Department of the Office of Public Health and Population said in a statement that the deaths are five cases in the Directorate of Mawiah, one case in the district of Shamaytin, a case in Al-Sallow, a case in Taiziah, one case in Same’a, and a case in the district of Thubab.

She added that 198 cases of cholera had been confirmed through culture examination.

It noted that Taiziah Directorate was the most infected, with 888 cases recorded and the Al-Muwasit Directorate registering the lowest-case rate where only two cases were registered.

Cairo Directorate (one of the directorates of the City of Taiz) recorded 288 injuries, although in previous years it was one of the most affected and no deaths were recorded.
