The Saudi ambassador and the Governor of Central bank to support the economy and local currency

Saudi ambassador to Yemen Mohamed Al Jaber and central bank governor Hafez Muaiad on Sunday discussed the status of the economy, the central Bank of Yemen and the kingdom's support for Yemen.

The two sides also reviewed the bank's plan and ways to improve the working environment of the banking sector, serving the Yemeni economy and enhancing its stability.

Ambassador Al Jaber explained that the Kingdom continues to grant bank funds for the importation food commodities (wheat, rice, sugar, baby milk and edible oil) to support all Yemenis without exception.

He said Saudi support has reached more than 805 million US dollars.

Al Jaber added that the impact of the Saudi deposit on the Yemeni economy was reflected in the exchange rate of the Yemeni riyal against the US dollar, which helped stabilize the Yemeni economy and halt the deterioration of the Yemeni currency.

He praised the Yemeni government's keenness to continue paying staff salaries.

He urged international organizations and the international community to provide financial assistance to Yemen through the central Bank , which has the effect of boosting the value of the Yemeni riyal and maintaining the stability of Yemen's economy.
