Clashes between government forces and gunmen cut al-Dhabab road in Taiz


A security source in the southwestern city of Taiz said that clashes erupted Wednesday evening between government troops and gunmen who cut through Al- Dhabab road, the only entrance to the city of Taiz, southwest of the city.

The gunmen, who come to the Directorate from Jabal Habashi, cut off the road for the second consecutive day and stopped the movement of citizens into and out of Taiz city, the source told Al-Masdar online.

The gunmen are demanding that the local authority in Taiz hand over the killers of soldier Alaa al-Fadhili to the police, in addition to arresting a driver of a military vehicle ran over a child two weeks ago.

According to the source, the government forces demanded the gunmen to reopen the road, before violent confrontations erupted between the two sides.

He noted that the gunmen, who were stationed in Mushrefah mountain on Al-Dhbab road, shot at government troops after they refused to raise their armed points and reopen the road.
