Gains for government forces in Abbs – Hajjah and battles cause displacement of about 500 families


Government troops on Monday made new field gains in Beni Abbs district of Hajjah Governorate (northwest of the country), following battles against Houthi militants, and took control of areas west of Beni Hassan area on the coastline.

The government forces in the Fifth military region launched a large-scale military operation last Thursday in the district of Abbs and several neighbouring directorates north-west of Hajjah.

A field military source told Al-Masdar online that the government forces took control of the village of Tinah, west of Beni Hassan, and advanced towards Al-Jarr farms.

He pointed to the deaths and injuries of the Houthis and capture of two in addition to seizing of two military vehicles.

The battles caused a massive exodus of civilians in the villages of Akwaa, Al-Khadimah, Beni Kudaish and Al-Sharqi in the district of Abbs, as a result of the shelling of Houthis.

The project manager of King Salman Centre for relief in Hajjah Anas al-Arqabi told the "Al-Masdar online", that the number of families displaced in the direction of Hayran district, reached more than 500 families .

He noted that the humanitarian conditions of the displaced people were very poor.
