Detention of Al-Masdar source reporter in Al-Turbah – Taiz by the commander of the Special Security forces

The reporter of Al-Masdar online Assem Al-Khadhami was detained by the escorts of the commander of the special security forces Col. Jamil Aqlan and his escorts Monday morning in Al-Turbah city South Taiz.

The commander of the special security forces directed his members to detain him inside the Khalifa General Hospital in the city, and he remained in detention for more than 15 min to prevent him from covering the governor's visit to the hospital.

"One of the escorts of the security commander attacked him with foul language," he said, adding that the individuals who held me violently and confiscated a telephone device and threatened to take me to the central security prison.

According to Khadhami, Colonel Aqlan ordered his personnel to "prevent me from entering or attending any place of press coverage."

This is the second time after al- Khadhami was detained earlier by the escorts of Col. Jamil Aqlan earlier in March when journalist Asim al- Khadhami tried to cover the "murder that took place inside the central security camp after disagreements between individuals and the Payroll Commission almost two weeks ago." "He was then subjected to detention, humiliation and confiscation of his mobile phone because he tried to photograph the bloodstains caused by the murder.

Al-Masdar online calls on the syndicate of journalists and organizations concerned with freedom of the press in solidarity with a correspondent in Al-Turbah Assem Khadoumi and holds the commander of the central security responsibility to expose him to any harm.
