Socotra Governor: We will not allow the presence of security belts or any armed formations outside the framework of the state

The governor of the Socotra archipelago, Ramzi Mahroos, said the local authority and the security and military forces of Socotra  will not allow security belts or armed formations outside the State apparatus.

"The authority will take actions against who undermine the security and stability of the province," Mahroos said during a meeting with tribal elders and social figures in the province on Monday.

He called on the province to stand together with the legitimate government represented by President Hadi and local authority in the province, against any military formations outside the law and order.

The UAE has transferred dozens of people from the Socotra Archipelago province, in the past months, to training camps in Aden and other areas in preparation for the formation of military forces that owe allegiance to them outside the control of the state.

Disputes between the UAE and the local authority erupted last year, with the governor Mahroos by the dismissal of security leaders close to Abu Dhabi who had recruited the province's sons in irregular formations.
