Asian investment team detained three times by security forces in Shabwah and Abyan

Local forces supported by the United Arab Emirates in Abyan and Shabwah governorates have held a Malaysian Chinese investment team three consecutive times in two days while the team was on a work mission to study investment opportunities on the fish in Aden and Abyan provinces, according to an official source talked to Al-Masdar  online.

According to the source, the team was heading to Aden for the purpose of studying investment opportunities in Aden and Abyan, but was first detained in Balhaf area near the gas facility in Shabwah Governorate, about five hours and the security forces began to investigate the team members.

"The team was again detained at a security checkpoint for the UAE-backed security forces in the Dofas area of Abyan province on the outskirts of Aden, but the source said the team was released after the local authority in Abyan intervened," the source added.

For the third consecutive time, the delegation was detained at “Al-“alam” point between the governorates of Abyan and Aden, which is under the control of local forces supported by the UAE.

The delegation was undertaking an exploratory mission to examine the investment opportunities of Aden and Abyan governorates for the purpose of establishing ports for the export of fish, and despite the detentions that were carried out by the security forces, it continued its field tour.

According to the source, the team was disturbed by the arrest and obstruction of his work, despite having official permits from government authorities.
