Hundreds of African migrants leave two detention sites in Aden and Lahj

Hundreds of African immigrants have started to leave their protest site at the "22nd" sports stadium in Sheikh Othman District, north of the southern city of Aden, from Thursday evening to Tuesday morning, as per local sources told Al-Masdar online.

According to sources, the local authority and security forces in Sheikh Osman have facilitated the task of releasing hundreds of African migrants after the internationally recognized government's attempt to reach an agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has stalled to help migrants return to their countries.

According to the sources, the Government did not provide any support to local authorities in the province of Aden to deal with the file of African immigrants in terms of support, provision of food and clothing, and the creation of places of detention outside the cities.

The sources told the “Al-Masdar online" that he left nearly three quarters of the immigrants who had been detained for nearly a month at the International Stadium in Sheikh Osman.

On a related level, local sources in Lahj province, north of Aden, said security forces in the province released  hundreds of African migrants who were being held in the Fifth Brigade camp, out of nearly 2,000 African migrants.
