Ethiopian girl killed, three migrants injured by security point gunfire south-east of Abyan

An immigrant girl in her third decade, of Ethiopian origin, was shot dead by soldiers of a security checkpoint on Tuesday morning in the area of "Ahwar" on the Arabian Sea coast, southeast of Abyan, a local source told Al-Masdar online.

According to the source, a vehicle carrying two migrants from Ethiopia stopped at a security point of the UAE-backed security forces in the area of "al-Masal" on the outskirts of the "Khubar Al- Margacha" area, which was shot by soldiers after suspicion, killing the girl and injuring three men accompanying her.

According to the source, the soldiers opened fire, noting that the vehicle stopped slightly and then tried to bypass the security barrier, while African migrants were trying to bypass the barrier in order not to be detained or arrested.

The body of the dead  girl and the three youths arrived at the emergency department of the city Hospital of Ahwar.

From yesterday evening to this morning, African immigrants began to leave two places of detention in the May 22, Aden, and another in the Fifth Brigade in Lahj province after the government failed to provide support to detention centres in the two provinces, in addition to not reaching an agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to deport Immigrants to their countries.
