Shabwah Protesters raise banners against "UAE occupation"

Dozens of citizens staged a protest rally in Ataq the southeastern city of Shabwah Governorate on Saturday morning condemning the arrests of activists by pro-UAE armed formations.

The protesters lifted banners condemning the arrest of activists by what they called the "tools of the United Arab Emirates occupation" and demanding the release of Salem al-Rabeizi, a leader of the Southern Revolutionary Council, a faction of the southern movement.

The demonstrators expressed their rejection of the practices of the elite forces, supported by the United Arab Emirates, against activists and leaders in the southern movement, which refused to be among the Emirati tools by raising slogans and banners

A relative of the detainee told Al-Masdar online that today we raise the peaceful slogans to demand the release of our son Salem, who was unlawfully detained from his house and will be escalated peacefully by organizing vigils and the protest events until his release.

The United Arab Emirates-backed elite forces on Monday arrested the leader of the Southern Revolutionary Council and its central committee member Salem Awad al-Rabizi from his home and took him to an unknown destination.
