The National Committee is carrying out a field visit to check the legality of the recent Marib events procedures


  Members of the National Commission of Inquiry into allegations of human rights violations on Friday carried out a field check to examine the places of detention of detainees in connection with the recent events in Al-Menin area of Marib province.

The chairman and members of the committee met with Marib police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Malik al-Madani and The Director General of Criminal Research Colonel Hussein al-Halisi, who provided a detailed explanation of the sequence of events leading up to the implementation of the security campaign, according to a statement issued by the committee today.

The two officials reviewed the most important arrest and investigation procedures that were carried out against the detainees through the appeals and criminal prosecution.

The committee members stressed their keenness to ensure that legal guarantees applicable to the protection of human rights in relation to the legal process of detention, humane treatment and the prohibition of torture provided for in the charters of international human rights law ratified by the Republic of Yemen.

During the visit, members of the Committee were also briefed on the whereabouts of the detainees and examined them and listened to the statements of the two positions in connection with these events and the reasons for the facts, details and procedures against them.

They stressed the need to abide by the laws and to bring to justice all those suspected of committing a criminal offence.
