Marib. Gas facility increases cylinder price by 47%

The gas facility in Marib province in the east of the country on Friday announced an adjustment in the price of a domestic gas cylinder, an increase of about 47%.

A document addressed from the Marib gas facility to local and military authorities showed the facility's decision to raise the price of the cylinder by about 47%.

The facility decided to raise the price of the cylinder to 2200 riyals for the consumer, up from 1500 riyals, while it was sold to the agent at a price of 1900 riyals.

A source in the Local Authority in Marib said the amendment was made by the Prime Minister.

He added to Al-Masdar online, that this increase came after the collapse of the price of the Yemeni riyal, as the price of the cylinder no longer covers the operating expenses.

The facility added in the document that the new amendment will be implemented from Friday.

Marib province produces about 1,800 tons of domestic gas (LPG), which is distributed to all provinces.

Domestic gas is one of the most financing for the Houthi militia, which has traded, monopolized and sold it at double prices to finance its wars on various fronts.
