Interior Minister Al-Maysari issues decisions to dismiss Shallal Shaya and security leaders who participated in Aden coup

Interior Minister Ahmed Al- Maysari issued a decree dismiss security leaders who participated in the coup in the interim capital Aden in southern Yemen.

According to the text of the decision issued on Tuesday evening, he removed Shallal Shaya from his post as director of Aden police and referred him to investigation for his direct role in the coup that was carried out against state institutions in Aden by force of arms by giving him orders to a number of Aden police units to participate in the coup.

The decision stipulated that Brigadier Nasser al-Shawhati was assigned to the Aden Police Department and Brigadier Hassan Mohammed Shukri for Lahij department and dismissal of the previous commander after participation in the coup against the legitimate government and all state institutions, including the presidential palace in Ma'ashik.

The resolutions included the assignment of Brigadier General Suleiman al-Zamki to lead the Special Security Forces of Aden, Lahj, Abyan and Al-Dhalea. The decision included the minister assigning his deputy, General Ali Nasser Lakhsha, to directly supervise the role of receipt and delivery between the former commander and the new commander.

These decisions come to delegitimize former security officials who became part of the de facto authority that administers Aden today after the clashes led to the removal of Interior Minister Ahmed al-Maysari and other officials of the legitimate government from the city.

On Saturday evening, a Saudi-owned plane transported the interior minister to Riyadh after Abu Dhabi-backed Transitional Council forces completed control of Aden.
