Iranian President: When security returns to Yemen, oil production in the region will be safe

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani has described the bombing of Saudi Aramco oil facilities in response to the bombing of Yemen.

At a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Monday, Rouhani said that Yemen is being bombed on a daily basis and that the Yemeni people are defending themselves.

In response to a question about the bombing of Saudi oil facilities: "On this issue, he began to talk about how this would affect the oil market. I would like to draw attention to security issues."

"Yemen is being bombed every day and is killing innocent people in this country," he said. The Yemeni people have therefore had to respond," he said, noting that there is an influx of weapons into Saudi Arabia, which are being used against the Yemeni people. "What the Yemeni people are doing is self-defense," he added.

He noted that the main way to settle the Yemeni issue was a political and diplomatic solution. It is likely that the Astana process of the Syrian settlement could serve as a model for a settlement in Yemen.

"The countries of the region can try to restore peace and stability to Yemen. When security returns to Yemen, oil production in the region will be safe."
