In anticipation of a fight. Dozens of families displaced from the town of "Sheikh Salem" east of Zanzibar

The "Sheikh Salem" area east of Zanzibar, the capital of Abyan province in southern Yemen, witnessed the displacement of dozens of families on Wednesday morning as the military mobilization of government forces on the one hand and southern Transitional Council forces escalated along the road linking Shaqra and Zanzibar.

A local source told "Al-Masdar Online" that about 100 families left the coastal area of "Sheikh Salem" located near the international stadium, which is about 12 kilometers from the city of Zanzibar, the capital, and went to the city of Ja’ar and to some neighborhoods of the city of Zanzibar after reports of the imminent outbreak of fighting between the forces the government and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces have stepped up military mobilization operations for the two sides in the government-controlled town of Shaqra, and in the vicinity of the STC-controlled city of Zanzibar.

The location of the Sheikh Salem area on the outskirts of Zanzibar on the line between Shaqra and the center of Abyan province is one of the pressure factors that forced the local population to leave the area in anticipation of any human and material losses, as the location of the town in the event of renewed fighting makes the homes of the local population in the crossfire of artillery fire of the two parties.

Yesterday, the security belt forces pushed a new batch of military reinforcements into Zanzibar, including tanks, armored vehicles and military vehicles, and in parallel, government forces sent military reinforcements to the town of Shaqra and the Orqoub mountain range, including tanks, military vehicles, rocket launchers and troop carriers.
