Safer resumes crude oil export for the first time in nearly 5 years

Safar oil production and exploration company began exporting its first shipment of crude oil from the Safer fields in Marib province for the first time since it stopped in early 2015.

A source at the company, who asked not to be named, told Al-Masdar Online that the state company today exported the first shipment of oil since the export process was suspended in early 2015 due to the war.

The source added that the first shipment of 5,000 barrels was exported by road to the area of "Ayad" in the province of "Shabwa", to be pumped from there through the oil pipeline to the port of Al-Nashima in the same province.

A source at the national company revealed to Al-Masdar online on Tuesday that the company is ready to export the first shipment of oil, adding that the quantities will gradually double to 15 thousand barrels per day.

The export process will contribute to strengthening the national economy and boosting the state treasury in foreign currency in light of the country's economic decline as a result of the war.
